When David and Kendra Rudibaugh began operating the coffee bar at Wired, it was apparent that a mad scientist was back there cooking up very unique coffee drinks along with the standard specialty coffee bar faire. To mark the shift in Wired coffee bar operations, we decided to start something fresh.
To move forward with a fresh take on the coffee side, we began by reflecting on the history of Wired and also the history of our current location at 111 NW 4th St, and we stumbled upon the origin of an all but forgotten gem of local history. Before this address was the original retail location of SEARS, it was the original location of the White Swan Steam Laundry in 1893. This was once a thriving business in our region with several locations and a fleet of delivery trucks. Some of that history will be on display at Wired soon, provided by the family of White Swan Laundry’s founders. As a nod to this history and to give a fresh identity to the coffee products we’re making and selling here at Wired, we are proud to give you White Swan Coffee Lab!
It seemed logical to keep the true integrity of all that makes up Wired by properly identifying all the pieces therein. The Vintage side provided by the geniuses at The Robot Parade Vintage, the Wired Venue consistently delivering opportunities for the creative community to flex, and now our White Swan Coffee Lab.
